Every year I decide to set goals and every year I end up failing so this year I'm not setting big goals, but instead small goals that I feel I can accomplish and feel success!  I've already started some of them, but here is my list so far:

1.  Instead of "I'm going to post on my blog every week", I'm going with "I'm going to post on my blog at least 4 times each month".  This way if it's the last day of the month and I realize that I haven't met my goal, I can post 4 times that day and I've got it covered!

2.  Instead of "I'm going to scrapbook 365 days of the year", I'm going with "I'm going to scrapbook 365 pages this year".  I might be up 24/7 from Christmas night to New Year's Eve at 11:59,  but I'm going to get 365 pages done!  I've got a good start.  I already have 8 pages done!!

3.  Instead of "I'm going to lose 50 pounds by my birthday", I'm going with "I'm going to lose 52 pounds this year." That's one pound a week, so if I can just focus on one pound at a time, then I won't get overwhelmed trying to lose too much each week.  If I don't lose one pound one week, then I only have to focus on 2 pounds for the next week, which is doable!

4. Instead of "I'm going to make my bed every morning", I'm going with "I'm going to make my bed every day".  This way if I don't have time to make my bed in the morning, I can make it right before I go to bed and feel accomplished!

5.  Instead of "I'm going to get organized this year", I'm going with "I'm going to get organized by doing something each month toward that goal and then continuing to do it every month afterwards, even as I add another new organizational skill".  For example, I am watching the new show "Tidying Up" on Netflix.  She talks about organizing your papers into 3 categories, so I did that this morning and I'm impressed!  Usually I sort the mail into everyone's piles then I go through mine.  I save things that I plan to read (we all know how that pile ends up), make a pile of bills, make a pile of junk mail and make a pile of things I don't know what they are, but I should probably look before just pitching.  And this is how the piles remain until the weekend when I finally decide to do something with them.  This lady has you sort into "Pending", "Important", "Miscellaneous".  She also says to open up every envelope.  What?!!  So, I opened up every envelope in my pending pile and put the bills in order of when they are due.  Don't get me wrong, I've tried to be organized with mail multiple times in the past and sometimes I do okay.  There is just something about the way she explains it and shows you that is calming and takes the stress out of sorting the mail.

So today I already feel successful.  I'm just about done with the 1st of my 4 posts for the month (hope to do more, but remember...I need to feel successful!), I scrapbooked 8 pages yesterday, I'm drinking water today instead of pop to work on that 1st pound that I haven't lost yet, I made my bed, and I have sorted my mail in a calmer way that has taken the stress out of sorting my mail.

What are your goals for 2019 and how do you plan to meet them so you can feel successful?!

Every year I say that I am going to stay caught up on this blog.  I really do try, but life gets in the way.  I’m still scrapbooking and st...
